Connie Devivic Nokes, PhD, MM

Dr. Connie Devivic Nokes, mezzo soprano, has performed and taught across the United States. A passionate teaching artist, she holds a masters degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Utah, a Ph.D. in Music Education from the University of Arizona with minors in Vocal Performance and Theatre Arts, and has been teaching private and applied voice since 1996. Connie enjoys working with singers of all levels, from teaching beginners to coaching professionals. She applies healthy classical techniques to many styles of singing including opera, art song, jazz, musical theatre, belt, and pop. A sought-after teaching artist, she has adjudicated, coached, and led workshops at music festivals and vocal competitions. Connie’s classroom teaching experiences span preschool through college and includes applied voice, general music, drama, musical theatre, opera workshop, and choir. She has conducted regional and community choirs and directed both film and stage productions. Whether in the classroom, concert hall, stage or one-on-one, Connie’s collaborative teaching approach supports the goals, learning styles, and personal artistry of each singer.
